MULTI-PURPOSE FITNESS
EQUIPMENT
New equipment choices help clubs make the best use of space, time and
money.
If you're upgrading
your club's current equipment or researching pieces for a new club, look
into the new multi-function pieces on the market, advises strength coach
and personal trainer Kris Padman. "It can be cheaper to buy one or two
multi-functional pieces than several individual pieces, " says Padman,
"and they are a big space saver."
Padman, who works at four different Toronto fitness facilities with a
wide variety of equipment and set-ups, says that with many clients
looking for a quick and efficient workout, they can also be a timesaver.
"Clients don't have to keep changing stations and jumping from machine
to machine.
And even if space and budget aren't an issue, there are lots of
gym-goers who need something new after years of the same old exercises
at the same old single-exercise stations. According to Padman, "This
type of machine is different. It's really appealing to people who are
bored with dumbbells and want to try something new and creative."
Here are some of the latest and most innovative multi-function pieces
available today.
THE VIPER ROPE CLIMBER
The Viper Rope Climber
provides a complete upper-body strength or cardio workout in one
exercise. It eliminates the need to use separate machines to exercise
different muscle groups. A levitating seat, seven rope resistance
settings and up to 250 lbs. of counterweights make the Viper accessible
and effective for a wide range of users. Its small footprint and no
electricity requirements help maximize floor space utilization. The
specially-designed rope is durable, yet provides a soft grip. A
battery-powered electronic display keeps track of time, distance and
speed. |
